Bargain City Galleria is a specialty shopping center situated in Cumberland, RI. The destination features over 100 unique stores and merchants. Ed Migley, Manager of Bargain City Galleria and Chief Resident Auctioneer of Studio 300, explains “We transitioned a year ago from Big Flea Superstore to Bargain City Galleria. We redid our features, created more storefronts, and built Studio 300.” Studio 300 is a multipurpose stage and theater located in the middle of Bargain City. The studio features 18 65-inch TV monitors, a raised stage, and comfortable seating. Studio 300 is used for “Entertainment, product launches, so that as Seen on television demonstrations,” says Migley. However, their theater is “Mostly used for auctions because we have one of the best facilities,” continues Migley. Bargain City hosts three different auctions on Thursdays and Saturdays, and Sundays.
Thursday Night Auctions
Bargain City partners using one of their anchor sellers, Pinnacle Deals, for his or her new Thursday night auctions. “We have the best partner in the world,” says Migley. “Pinnacle Deals is among the biggest liquidators in the country.” Also, they are a part of a lot of money 100 company. Auctions feature an enormous number of new and returned merchandise, many with extended warrantees. “It’s a thrilling event,” continues Migley. “Things are friendly, loose and fun and not as conservative. We’re more entertainers in the way things are presented.” You will find deals on individual items and palettes, with a lot of brand name electronics. “Anything can be within the auction,” says Migley. “How many items are there on the planet? Well, they all come through here.”
Viewing begins at 5pm, as well as the auction starts at 7pm. The Bargain City stores also open at 5pm, with their full-service 1950s diner.
Saturday Auctions
Hosted every-other Saturday by an outside company, these auctions are “standing room only,” says Migley. 60% of the items up for auction are food based.
Sunday Auctions
Bargain City Galleria Also purveyed by Pinnacle Deals, Sunday auctions at Bargain City Galleria offer over 119 different items. “They are the world’s greatest deals,” says Migley. “It’s a reality show format. There’s lots of interaction. It’s really a fun time.”
In preparation for their auctions, Pinnacle Deals and Bargain City have people working all week long with 45,000 square feet of warehouse space and loading docks. “Generators, laptops, GPS units, Bluetoothspeakers and tables, anything you could imagine,” says Migley.
More than just cheap deals for flea marketers, Bargain City also provides an exciting, entertaining experience. “We take it to another level. We’re very interactive. We’re very motivating. We obtain people involved,” explains Migley. “We always felt we were more than a flea market.”
There is no registration or admission fee for auctions, however a valid photo ID is required. Migley recommends buyers arrive early to surf the merchandise and to get a good seat.
